The Teseum is situated in the historic setting of the heritage site of the Basilica of Our Lady.
The reception of the Teseum is situated in the former Chapter Room, a room where the monks of the chapter met. You reach the upper floor where the treasury is displayed via the Romanesque tower. This tower, dating from the 12th century, is the only visible remnant of the fortification wall around the monastery and the church.
Make sure to take a look at the adjacent Romanesque cloister and the fine monastery garden – a hidden jewel in the town centre.
The Basilica is one of the finest Gothic religious buildings in Belgium. The basilica can be admired from far away in the Haspengouw landscape. A visit to the interior of the church is definitely worth the effort.
