Accessibility

Our museum site is located in the listed buildings of the Basilica of Our Lady. To preserve the historical character, they can’t always be physically adapted for everyone.

Read all about the accessibility of the Teseum here.

▸ Archaeological site

The archaeological site can only be reached by stairs. There is no elevator. The site is therefore not accessible for prams, wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties. Narrow passages, low and dark spaces are also part of the underground site. There are benches dotted around the route.

People who cannot go on the journey through the archaeological underground, can take a virtual visit via the 360° tour. The virtual rooms offer a 360° view so that you can look around freely, on your mobile or via a desktop computer.

▸ Treasury and cloister

The treasury and cloister are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

These visitors can:
– easily visit the treasury and cloister with a wheelchair of max. 90 cm wide. Wheelchairs wider than 90 cm can’t fit through all corridors.
– book a wheelchair in advance at the counter (1 wheelchair available).
– reach all floors by elevator.
– use adapted sanitary facilities.
– rest regularly on benches dotted around the route.

Assistance dogs are welcome in the treasury and cloister.

Carers accompanying people who cannot visit the Teseum independently, receive free admission.

▸Tower

The basilica tower is not wheelchair accessible. There is no lift in the tower. You must climb approximately 300 steps to reach the top. Only visit the tower if you are in good shape.

You visit the tower at your own pace. You follow the same route up as down. You can take several rest stops. Climbing the tower is not recommended for people with reduced mobility and small children (under 6 years old).

The number of visitors is limited. You can only access with your ticket within the reserved time slot.

Earplugs for the carillon are available free of charge. Comfortable footwear is recommended.

▸Transcript version museum tour

People with a hearing impairment can follow the entire museum route via a transcript version on the multimediaguide or text panels.
